The lines you see are section lines or otherwise known as PLSS lines, and they are designed to only show at high zoom levels. The numbers you see such as T158n R098w S16 near the center of the section is the Township, Range and Section number. This can be used in conjunction with a PLAT book to determine ownership. The lines typically show as a purple line on a Garmin GPS.
